The service at St. John the Baptist Church in Broadstone led by the Revd. Martin Fredriksen on Friday 26th November 2010 was well attended by Family, Friends and Colleagues (including Claire's whole team from the office). The bearers took Claire in to the sound of Elgar's Nimrod, and up the aisle past pews packed with Friends and Colleagues, followed by Neil and his and Claire's families. The version of psalm 23 "The King of love my Shepherd is" was sung to the Irish Melody St Columba, then after a poem read by brother-in-law John, sister Stella, husband Neil and Daughter Julie spoke respectively of Claire's early life, her married life and what she meant as a mother. After a collective period of individual reflection to the sound of Clannad's theme from Harry's game the service continued with prayer and the final hymn "Dear Lord and Father of mankind" to the tune "Repton" and we all followed Claire out to Katherine Jenkins singing "Be Still My Soul" to the music by Sibelius. This music was echoed by a quieter instrumental version at the Crematorium where the short committal service was equally well attended. Neil, Julie and family thank the Reverend and all who attended, Tracy Piper at our favourite Southbourne Florist for the evident skill of her craft, especially the Shamrock and the Butterfly floral displays, and thanks to A.H. Griffin for their care of Claire until and during her funeral.
